It feels like the 90s "come back" again once every couple of years, so this 90s costume tutorial by Refinery29 is pretty relevant. It's a decade that we love to reference and recreate.
To get the 90s grunge look, start by applying a generous amount of thickening hairspray to your locks. Then separate your hair into four separate pony tails, leaving some hair loose at the back. Coil each ponytail into little buns and secure with pins. Though our current look emphasizes big, bold brows, the 1990s were all about the barely-there brows. You can minimize your brows with a brow gel several shades lighter than your brow color, or, if you're feeling gutsy, with foundation. To complete the makeup, ring your eyes with a rust-colored metallic pencil and apply heavy eyeliner and mascara. Finish off with a brown lip pencil and equally-as-dark gloss.
Accessorize with flannel and a choker, and voila! It's like you've traveled back to a time when Kurt Cobain ruled the radio and "The Rachel" was the haircut of the moment.
