Michael Hemsworth — December 4, 2018 — Tech
The NHK 8K TV channel was launched in Japan on December 1 to enable consumers with compatible television sets to enjoy crisp content at their leisure. The channel will broadcast each day from 10am until just after 10pm and is sure to come as welcome news to consumers who have the latest equipment but have trouble finding content sources with the best resolution possible. The new channel comes as the first of its kind, but isn't the first time NHK has broadcast 8K content; some events at the 2016 Rio Olympics were broadcast in the Super Hi-Vision resolution.
The NHK 8K TV channel hopes to play a major part in the country's role in leading UHD content broadcasting.
