4K has become a commonplace resolution for new televisions, so the new LG 88-Inch 8K OLED TV has been developed to identify the latest and greatest capabilities for image quality. The unit will be shown off at CES 2018 and features a resolution of 7,680 x 4,320 pixels. The unit identifies the continued interest in developing television screens for the home despite a shift towards mobile technology amongst consumers.
The LG 88-Inch 8K OLED TV was explained by In-Byung Kang, EVP and CTO at LG Display, when they said, "The successful development of the world’s first 8K OLED display is a milestone for the 8K era and underscores the exciting potential of OLED. OLED is clearly a next-generation technology leader and for this reason, LG Display is accelerating its research and development into OLED so that we can provide differentiated products to customers and markets."
