MediaTek revealed its first-ever 5G laptop chip, named the 'T700 5G' which will power next-gen Intel laptops. The 5G laptop chip was made possible through a partnership between MediaTek and Intel. Intel also stated that it has been prioritizing system integration, as well as enhancing platform optimization for a 5G chip.
The T700 chip will feature will support 5G calls, without needing a 4G LTE network. MediaTek also stated the new chip is extremely power efficient, which means that it can perform without draining a laptop battery while using 5G. The chip will also have support for Sub-6 5G technology, which MediaTek indicated it tested 5G calls without using a 4G LTE network.
The partnership will release more chips in the future.
