There are a lot of reasons why you might want to invest in a 3D printer, but the possibility of being able to print the same 3D-printed suit as the one RoboCop wears in the latest movie is pretty compelling. The suit was molded using Objet Connex 3D and produced by 3D printer manufacturer Stratasys for Legacy Effects, a special effects company in Hollywood.

One of the advantages to 3D printing is that single parts for the suit could be created as-needed for specific scenes. Aside from the printing process itself, the technology used to create 3D printed designs enabled the creators of the suits to work with symmetrical forms, so that mirroring the second half of an object only takes a click of a button.
