The 2018 Buick Regal Sportback and TourX Target Younger Buyers
Michael Hines — April 5, 2017 — Autos
The 2018 Buick Regal represents a new chapter for the American luxury automaker. Buick has been around for years, which unfortunately has given it the reputation of building cars for "old people." The brand has been trying to shake that image with fresh models and an ad campaign featuring NFL stars. However, the 2018 Buick Regal may be the car that finally makes millennials notice the automaker. Gone is the Regal sedan. In its place is the Regal Sportback and TourX.
The Sportback has coupe-like roofline and a fastback design. The overall look is one of a European luxury car. The new TourX is the first Buick wagon sold in the U.S. since 1996. Wagons don't sell particularly well in the United States, so it's safe to say the TourX is a risky move. However, the wagon body style will help the 2018 Buick Regal stand out against the competition.
Both models will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is available. The 2018 Buick Regal will go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2017. Pricing for the two new models has not yet been announced.
