This 19-century apartment is located in the Prospect Heights neighborhood in New York City and it is successfully injected with contemporary charm through the efforts of Hatchet Design Build. The interior called for a complete overhaul as existing details needed to be stripped in order to bring about a crisp and refined modern aesthetic.
Hatchet Design Build employed local studios Coil + Drift and Cold Picnic, making the initative a collaborative project. The second party contributors selected the textiles, the furniture and the lightning for the 19-century apartment.
Termed "an exercise in tactical restoration" by Hatchet principal Zach Rockhill, the townhouse renovation is one of many examples in New York where the charm of the old is brought back to life through the lens of the contemporary.
