This Ten meter concrete bear with a pillow under its arm was erected in the Staalmanplein area in Slotervaart, Amsterdam, by the Steelman. This incredibly complex structure somehow manages to be all sorts of adorable despite its massive size and weight.
The frame of the bear itself involves all sorts of wires and required a lot of welding to shape the outline of the body and head. The massive frame was created in halves and the head of the bear and the body were made in two separate parts, and were joined together only after filling each half with concrete. Because of the weight of each piece, the top half had to be attached to the bottom with a giant crane. The result is very reminiscent of any childhood stuffed teddy bear, but just supersized.
