Exposed Component Illuminators

The 003.5 Light Object Frames its Electrical Components on Acrylic

The 003.5 Light Object differs from typical light fixtures in a number of ways, and one of these unusual features is the overt presentation of its nitty-gritty components. Many designers prefer to conceal their lightbulbs at least slightly, and an effort is certainly often made to hide excess wires and electrical mechanisms.

What you get with Naama Hofman's creation for the REDESIGN[D] Project is a rectangular panel of transparent acrylic glass. It comes in either hot pink or neon green with one frosted diagonal half. The fluorescent tube light source is mounted with pride and arranged with visible connections to its functional parts. The idiosyncratic 003.5 Light Object is intended to be mounted on a wall, or simply set upon the floor and leaned for support.
