Printed Circuit Sconces

The Printed Circuit Sconce Turns Exposed Electronics into a Sculpture

The Printed Circuit sconce turns exposed electronics into functional sculpture by using a flexible polyimide printed-circuit board as the primary structural and aesthetic element. The copper traces and embedded LEDs of the board are intentionally revealed, allowing the circuitry to glow softly when illuminated and to act as both diffuser and decorative pattern. The armature holds the board securely and also manages the DC power connection, so the entire assembly appears clean and minimal.

The design challenges typical lighting conventions by celebrating raw materials and inner workings rather than hiding them behind frosted surfaces or opaque housings. The curved board bends gently into a sculptural form that houses lighting electronics while also expressing them, and the result is a piece that blends engineering logic and interior elegance in one.
