OluTimehin Adegbeye, a writer and activist, begins her talk on displacement by considering the definition of a city, and how they tend to originate in very troublesome ways.

Hailing from Lagos, Nigeria, Adegbeye has noticed that the separation of classes has resulted in many problems, and has caused many people to be cast aside in order to make room for mega cities. As Adegbeye states, these kinds of expansions try to eliminate the poor, as people in unfavorable economical standings are left without a home while vacation resorts and other structures take over. These forced evictions leave people in need with no resources, and goes against one's basic human rights.

With her talk on displacement, Adegbeye shows her audience how the development of mega cities often result in great violence and a loss of humanity for poorer parts of a population. In exposing this, she prompts her listeners to be more weary of government intervention when it comes to such matters, and reminds them that one's human rights shouldn't depend on how much money they have.
