Harris stresses that remaining present is a key way to stay active in your surroundings. This is because we often lose our ability to focus and be productive when our mind wanders in thought. Staying present through reflective practices, such as mediation, is a great way to keep your mind clear and concentrated. Mediation also helps us see beyond temporary feelings and emotions so that we can become less caught up in daily struggles. Harris says, "having focus and having your mind in the present moment is a little bit of a superpower in situations that we’re all in from day to day."
