Portillo's is Improving Its POS and Network Systems Nationwide

Portillo's, the Illinois-based QSR chain, has announced 'POS 2.0,' an upgrade to its entire base of point-of-sale (POS) systems nationwide. Portillo's has outlined that its systems are outdated and that these systems cause a lot of friction between consumers and staff. This happens due to slow, inefficient systems, as well as un-customizable displays or clogged drive-through lanes.

POS 2.0 will see the improvement of the order input system on the computers that servers use and the change from static menu displays to customizable digital displays for quickly adjustable marketing. In addition to this, Portillo's will increase the speed of its Wi-Fi at all locations nationwide, increasing customer satisfaction and the speed that sales are processed. Lastly, the brand has tested a drive-thru-only location in Illinois where there are three separate lanes for ordering food, one of which is reserved for advance pick-up only. The QSR chain saw demonstrable success with this system, so it may incorporate this in more locations in the future.
