Dutch designer Olivier Van Herpt unveiled the latest of his 3D printed experiments with a range of vessels that appear to be 'drawn.' He creates vases with a white base to function as a canvas and through experimentation, he forms a painterly look. The process starts with a flat porcelain clay with colors rolled on top.
He notes, "Porcelain is generally kept small because it collapses in the firing process, but with this machine, I can make very thin, large pieces that do not collapse." Continuing on the material's surface, "Like any human, I let the machine compose recognisable elements through lines of different intensity and color, communicating memories and emotions, reflecting the character of its creator."
