Sanina Arch lub and Gubar Architects Designs the Krasnyk House

Lviv design studios Sanina Arch Club and Gubar Architects create the Krasnyk House by blending modern and local traditions. It is a holiday cabin in Ukraine's Carpathian mountains, imitating the classic architecture of the Hutsuls, which is an ethnic group in western Ukraine.

Visually, the exterior is clad with black-metal panels and it rests on a concrete plinth over the top of the sloped site. Alina Sanina, founder of Sanina Arch Club explains to Dezeen, "During the project, we have researched the origins of local architecture, Hutsul customs and the culture of the region. Our aim was to build that kind of cottage, which could fit harmoniously into the local style – that is why the cottage looks like it already was in the village a hundred years ago."
