Local studio Anttinen Oiva Architects has created the Katajanokan Laituri building which is a mass timber structure as the headquarters for Stora Enso, a timber supplier located in Helsinki. It is along the waterfront and in addition to the headquarters, it also houses a restaurant and the Katajanokka Pier 4 hotel with 164 rooms. It also has a public green rooftop terrace and a basement beneath with a car park.
The architecture firm shares, "Katajanokan Laituri is a solid wood office and hotel building that sets an example for the possibilities of wood construction in a sensitive urban environment. The project has been guided by the objective of minimising climate impacts over a long lifecycle and making the best use of renewable resources and materials."
