Set to open in Spring 2026, the Imperial Hotel, Kyoto marks a significant chapter in the evolution of Japan’s iconic Imperial Hotel brand. As the first new addition to the portfolio in over thirty years, this refined, seven-story boutique property will offer 55 thoughtfully designed guest rooms, uniting Kyoto’s historical soul with contemporary sophistication.
Anchoring the hotel is "the Yasaka Kaikan, a nationally registered tangible cultural property originally completed in 1936 by architect Tokusaburō Kimura." Once a celebrated cultural venue in Kyoto’s Gion district, the building is undergoing a respectful transformation—preserving its architectural character while reinforcing it to meet modern standards.
This revival also draws a meaningful connection to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Imperial Hotel, Tokyo, as both structures incorporate handcrafted Tokoname terracotta and share a lineage of artisanal detail. Balancing tradition with innovation, the property embraces Kyoto’s visual harmony and environmental sensibilities. Additionally, guests can expect elegant accommodations, inspired dining, and wellness experiences—all rooted in a deep sense of place and legacy.
