The iiode Re27 is a Repairable E27 Light Bulb

The iiode Re27 is a retrofit E27 LED bulb from Swiss studio iiode, designed to fit standard sockets while featuring a modular, repair-first architecture that lets users swap clip-in components when parts fail. It was introduced as iiode’s debut product and presented during Milan Design Week 2026, featuring die-cast recycled-aluminum construction and integrated smart controls.

The design emphasizes serviceability and sustainable sourcing: most parts use recycled materials, assembly occurred in Switzerland with primarily EU-made components, and the textured aluminum body aids passive heat dissipation. The bulb delivers high CRI, flicker-free output, tunable color temperature and intensity, and built-in smart control without requiring an external hub.

iiode also commissioned eight design studios to create dedicated lampshades for the Re27, positioning the bulb as a design object rather than a disposable commodity. For consumers it reduces waste and maintenance costs while improving light quality, aligning with growing demand for repairable, responsibly made home electronics.

Trend Themes

  1. Modular Repairable Electronics — A shift toward swap-in modules and service-first architectures enables longer-lived devices and secondary markets for replaceable parts and upgrades.
  2. Sustainable Material Sourcing — Growing use of recycled metals and regional component supply chains creates demand for traceable low-carbon manufacturing and premium eco-branded products.
  3. Integrated Smart Lighting Design — Convergence of on-bulb intelligence, high-quality tunable light and aesthetic collaborations positions lighting as both a functional IoT node and a design-led household object.

Industry Implications

  1. Consumer Electronics — Repairable, modular form factors open possibilities for product families that prioritize serviceability over disposability and capture aftermarket revenue streams.
  2. Lighting Manufacturers — Manufacturers able to combine high-CRI tunable optics with modular hardware and premium materials stand to redefine value beyond simple lumen-per-watt metrics.
  3. Circular Economy Services — Service providers focused on refurbishment, parts recycling and certified repair networks become central to extending product lifecycles and reducing waste.
