The Melt Small Portable Light is a cordless table lamp designed by Tom Dixon, adapting the brand’s well-known Melt lighting series into a compact, rechargeable format. The lamp features a distorted spherical shade created through blow molding and vacuum metallization of polycarbonate, producing a reflective surface that resembles melted metal when switched off. When illuminated, the shade becomes translucent and emits a warm glow that highlights the lamp’s fluid, organic form.
The portable lamp uses a 2.5-watt LED producing around 100 lumens at a warm 3000K color temperature. A touch control allows dimming while a rechargeable battery provides up to 10 hours of illumination on a single charge. The unit recharges through a magnetic USB connection and carries an IP44 rating for resistance to light moisture, making it suitable for both indoor and sheltered outdoor use. The lamp is available in finishes including black, silver, gold, and copper.
