A Three-Way Collaboration Forms the Enlace Chair with Heritage

Parisian chair manufacturer Maison Louis Drucker works in collaboration with both studio Aranda\Lasch and TRAME to present the Enlace chair. It is an impressive three-way collaboration that celebrates the traditional craft of cane weaving. The three envision the chair and work together to bring it to life. As a result, it integrates digital and handmade processes that capture the historic and contemporary elements of the silhouette.

This project highlights the classic Parisian cafe chair that was originally designed by Maison Louis Drucker back in 1885. It is known for its bentwood framing and woven rattan pattern. The team started with forming a prototype on a digital platform before creating the framework and the weaving blueprint, thread by thread. This is then tested, weaved, and ultimately crafted.
