Mexican design firm Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos has created the Academia Atlas in Guadalajara, Mexico. It is defined by its use of red concrete for one of the most notable football teams in the city. The space trains young players who are working towards being a part of the Atlas FC team. The complex takes over 26 acres of Zapopan, Jalisco.
The Chairman of Academia Atlas Alejandro, Irarragorri Gutiérrez Orlegi speaks about the design project, "Academia Atlas is about creating the right environment and facilities for the future development of young players, making entry into elite football more widely accessible in Mexico. The project has also been conceived by us together with Sordo Madaleno to create jobs in Jalisco through local procurement processes while giving the region an important landmark promoting the role of sport in society."
