23 Hispanic Food Innovations

From $1,000 Mexican Popsicles to Spanish Obama Cookies:

There is so much more to Hispanic foods than just nachos, burritos and tacos. On one end of the spectrum, we have hearty, spice-infused traditional dishes. On the other end, we see trendier, pop culture-inspired foods like these Obama-shaped cookies. Spanish company Neos Brand came up with sweet treats called Obamitas -- chocolate cookies in the shape of smiling faces, outlined with icing.

There are also snacks and dishes that focus on exclusivity. A Mexican resort called Marquis Los Cabos has luxurious frozen treats on its menu -- a popsicle priced at $1,000. Containing 24-carat gold flakes and top-notch tequila, this summer snack is truly exquisite.

The candy industry is also interesting -- many hispanic candies stick to the traditions of sensational flavors. Combining spices with modern day demands, renowned Mexican company Du lces Vero produces lollipops and liquid candies that taste like chili.
