Steady U Ohio is an innovative program, set up by the Ohio Department of Aging, that aims to prevent falls among elderly people. In Ohio alone, a senior falls every two minutes and suffers a fall-related injury every five minutes, resulting in three deaths a day on average.

However, while falls are the leading cause of injuries, emergency room visits and deaths among seniors, most falls are preventable. Falls and fall-related injuries cost the state of Ohio over $4.2 billion each year.

The Steady U Ohio website offers a range of useful advice on how to prevent falls among seniors. This includes tips such as keeping stairways clear, securely attaching rugs to the floor and installing night lights.

The program also offers fall-prevention classes designed to improve seniors' confidence in their ability to get around without falling.
