The bear is very much a part of our culture more so since Teddy Roosevelt inspired the teddy bear back in the 1900’s. These fuzzy and cuddly toys still evoke fond memories in many adults today.

But the real animals are big and sometimes threatening. In reality, some species are themselves being threatened like the Giant Panda which is classified in the bear family. Others like the polar bear have become the poster animal for climate change.

We enjoy bears in candy and even in furniture. We like them so much that we even called a microscopic creature a water bear simply because it looked like one.
