A startup called Reflektion has built a technology that predicts what products an online shopper is most likely to be interested in, so that online retailers can display products that are most likely to sell.
The Reflektion platform analyzes a whole bunch of data about the shopper -- everything from where they come from, what time of day it is, whether they've been on the site before, what they've clicked on before and even what device they're using.
This data is then crunched in a complex algorithm that, according to Reflektion CEO Sean Moran, can "right away make some pretty good predictions about what you're about."
Surfing brand O'Neill has been one of the biggest success stories so far, having reported improved online shopping results using the Reflektion platform.
Nike and Intel Capital are two of the other big names that have invested in Reflektion.
