Bobby Cameron's creative innovation techniques keynote hones in on the middle ground between modest operational/managerial changes and larger, riskier changes in businesses.
Cameron starts by stating that innovation is about creating business impact. He amends that statement by saying it's about impacting the family of business activities, meaning processes, capabilities, new market offerings (products and services), new business models. The fact that innovation can have such wide ranging impact proves that it doesn't exist only within the four walls of said firm.
Building on this point later in his keynote, Cameron also points to Procter and Gamble as a great example of sourcing innovation from outside those same four walls. He says the CEO of P&G recently achieved his goal of sourcing half the company's innovation from outside the firm. This mean that just as businesses need to think of innovation as effecting more than just what happens inside its walls, it's also important to remember there are resources outside them too.
