It seems the occurrences of bullying have quadrupled in recent years and in order to fight this growing trend, countless anti-bullying campaigns have been cleverly devised. Not only has there been an increase in occurrences, but also in the degree of aggression with which these cruel and sometimes violent acts are committed. These campaigns declare a powerful statement: bullying in any form is unacceptable.
In an age dominated by technology, bullying has become even more perverse, prevalent and sometimes accepted as a part of growing up. This is unmistakably wrong. While in the past, bullying was contained on school playgrounds and during recess-time, it now has a doorway into homes through social media and email. These awareness campaigns and heartbreaking testimonials from victims of bullying aim to break the cycling of bullying, eradicate its existence and banish the idea that it is a normal phase in life.
