Strong Geometric Steel Chairs

XYZ Integrated Architecture Designs the Zero-Thickness Chair

Tbilisi-based design studios XYZ Integrated Architecture and Sandro Lominashvili work together to create the Zero-Thickness Chair. This is a unique piece of furniture with joints that appear to be non-existent entirely in contrast to its strong build. It is a functional seat that is crafted using steel, MDF, and a unique joinery technique.

The strength is applied by welding steel rubes in the position it rests in, which is also known as Zero-Thickness, thus the namesake. This refers to any edge that is connected by more than two faces. The chair's framing is done in black, which appears to be the outline of the chair and the seat is designed in a pastel tone for contrast and welcoming energy.
