If you have ever tried to travel without a yoga mat strap, you know how cumbersome a loose mat can be. This DIY project is perfect if you don't want to shell out the cash for a mat-specific carrier, whether it's a stringy contraption from lululemon or a handbag designed just for yogis.
From Julia at the Free People blog, the DIY Macramé Yoga Mat Strap only requires rope. If you're extra creative, you can use materials like leather, denim or strips of fabric. You don't need a lot of expertise in macramé either. A rolled up mat should be easy enough to slide in and out of the loops you make while still staying secure. The shoulder strap also gives you a way to hang your mat when not in transit or use.
