Tyson Foods' Fully Recyclable ¡YAPPAH! Snacks Fight Food Waste

A number of creative brands are looking to the future by developing sustainable new snacks using everything from spent grains and juice pulp to the leaves of the coffee plant—Tyson Foods is also getting in on this movement to fight food waste with its ¡YAPPAH! brand.

¡YAPPAH! specifically tackles food waste within the meat industry by repurposing chicken breast trim into uniquely flavored Protein Crisps. Some of the standout varieties from the brand include Chicken Celery Mojito, Chicken Sunshine Shandy and Chicken IPA. Since all of these flavors reference products within the world of beverages, the Protein Crisps are packaged in an innovative, fully recyclable canned format.

The name of the brand was derived from a South American term that references the tradition of merchants giving customers surplus product at the end of the day, so as not to be left with waste.
