Upcycled Vegetable Packaging

Anina Packages Plant-Based Ready Meals in Upcycled Waste Vegetables

The plant-powered ready meals from Israeli start-up Anina are packaged in capsules that are made from upcycled waste vegetables. These containers help to give new life to misshapen (or so-called "ugly) produce that's deemed unfit for sale. Sliced thinly, the upcycled waste vegetables are dehydrated, coated in laminate and formed into containers.

The ready meals include plant-based options like the Vietnamese Bowl, Mediterranean Bowl and Pasta Primavera, and thanks to their nourishing ingredients and innovative packaging, the entire experience is one that's powered by plants. Some of the veggies that are used to make the capsules include sweet potato, zucchini and tomato.

Soon, Anina has plans to launch snack bars packaged in upcycled fruit.
