The conceptual XPLRA 1.0 has been designed by Vivek Kaushal as a Pokémon-inspired device that will enable adventurers, explorers and hikers alike to index the animals they encounter on their trail travels. The device is inspired by the Pokédex that fans will recall from the video game and TV series, and features a built-in camera that can be used for capturing a snapshot of an animal. The device will then allow the user to catalog it thanks to the built-in screen, which harnesses the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to make the process of identifying animals far easier.

The conceptual XPLRA 1.0 is engineered to work in an off-grid manner to eliminate the need for Wifi or cellular signals.
