Shirt-Scanning Stain Detectors

The X-Spect Can Decipher Chocolate Syrup from Red Wine

Different stains require different laundering methods, but sometimes, it is nearly impossible to decipher whether a shirt is covered in chocolate syrup or red wine, which is why German technology company Bosch developed the 'X-Spect' -- a shirt-scanning device that identifies stains and recommends the most effective method of stain removal.

The tool, which is about the same shape and weight as a standard television remote, features a simple interface which can be accessed through small touch buttons. The device's screen display will relay to a user the specifics of the stain. Although a valuable tool for stain removal, the X-Spect offers users more longevity, as the device promotes the proper keeping of clothes, providing the perfect temperature, and spin cycles for individual pieces of clothing.
