WYouth is a New W Magazine Publication for Gen Z

— April 23, 2026 — Life-Stages
WYouth (pronounced double youth) is W Magazine’s new teenage sister publication, rooted in W’s rich archives and thoughtfully reimagined for Gen Z—a generation with a strong affinity for pre-digital simplicity. “The idea for WYouth came from a conversation with Sofia Coppola and Sara Moonves, where we were thinking about the magazines we grew up with when we were teenagers,” says Nirui. “They were so influential and shaped all of the things we were obsessed with. We want to bring back that spirit, but for today—through pop culture experimentation and physical media, inspiring the next generation on style, beauty, and fashion history through the perspective of W Magazine," shared Ava Nirui, the former creative director of Heaven by Marc Jacobs, the brand’s youth-focused line.

The debut print issue of WYouth is coming in September 2026 and will be published biannually.

Trend Themes

  1. Retro-physical-media Revival — A renewed appetite for tactile, collectible print among Gen Z signals the potential to reintroduce premium physical formats that blend archival credibility with contemporary youth aesthetics.
  2. Gen Z Nostalgia Curation — Curated nostalgia that reinterprets pre-digital cultural touchstones for young audiences creates space for editorial products that act as cultural translators between generations.
  3. Archive-driven Youth Branding — Leveraging legacy archives to inform fresh youth-facing identities offers a pathway to create differentiated brand narratives rooted in historical authenticity.

Industry Implications

  1. Print Publishing — Specialist biannual print titles aimed at teenagers present opportunities to monetize limited-run, collectible issues and subscription models tied to exclusivity and design.
  2. Fashion and Beauty Media — Editorials that mine fashion history for Gen Z sensibilities could open avenues for co-branded product lines and experiential storytelling bridging runway heritage with street-level trends.
  3. Cultural Education and Museums — Institutions that digitize and reinterpret archives for younger visitors may find new engagement models through pop-up exhibits and educational publications blending scholarship with youth culture.
