Racing video games continue to get more realistic while those who play them get better and better, so the McLaren F1 team has decided to try to tap into that base of potential racers with the 'World's Fastest Gamer' contest. The historic British F1 team is literally hoping to discover the fastest racing gamer in the world, and it's dangling a mighty big carrot as inspiration: the contest winner will be brought onto the McLaren F1 team as a full-time simulation driver.
F1 teams have been using racing simulators in race preparation for years. These simulators offer teams a way to test out cars on various tracks when the physical cars aren't allowed access, and they give engineers and drivers important data that they can make use of ahead of the big race.
