Wooden Stool Art Exhibitions

Ai Weiwei Created Wood Art by Filling 18 Rooms with Wooden Stools

Natural art provides a feeling that few can mimic so this wood art is truly a standout. Ai Weiwei is back at it again with his brand of amazing and inspiring contemporary art pieces and this one is his most ambitious yet.

The exhibition takes up 18 rooms of Berlin’s Martin-Gropius-Bau and over 3,000 square meters. Altogether it uses about 6,000 wooden stools, which have all been used and show signs of wear and tear. The personality of each is the story of the piece as each stool brings it's own specific energy to it.

The stools also have a deeper history as they were gathered up from the Qing dynasties and the Republican period, giving them a true historical impact and giving the exhibition true cultural relevance.
