Subterranean Social Spaces

The Lounge Beneath William Vale Hotel Reimagines Nightlife in Brooklyn

The lounge and club beneath the William Vale Hotel reimagines nightlife by transforming a raw basement into a richly textured subterranean venue by Studio MBM in collaboration with Yakka Studio. Nestled under the luxury hotel in Williamsburg, the space spans more than 5,000 square feet and unfolds in an L-shaped layout that separates a lounge and listening bar from the deeper, dancer-filled club zone. Natural materials, including curved burl plywood panels and reflective metal surfaces, create an immersive mood that’s intimate and atmospheric yet subtly dramatic.

Lighting and sculptural volume shift dynamically across the interior, while bespoke furnishings, jewel-tone seating, and layered textures guide guests through spaces that feel sensual and contemporary. Designed not just for performance but for social theatricality, this venue blends design, sound, and space into a seamless nightlife experience that pushes hospitality into the realm of experiential architecture.
