The 'Flo' sanitary pad washing system is intended to offer a way for girls and women to keep reusable feminine hygiene products clean, stored and ready for use.

Menstruation still holds a certain amount of stigma in many parts of the world, which can lead to girls even missing school when on their period to avoid potential shaming or teasing. The 'Flo' system enables girls and women to wash, dry, store and carry their sanitary pads to ensure they never have to be worried about not having one to use.

The 'Flo' sanitary pad washing system is the design work of Mariko Higaki Iwai, Sohyun Kim, Tatijana Vasily, Charlotte Wong and Benjamin Freedman. It is the winter of the IDEA award and the James Dyson Award.
