The Walerio Araujo Spring/Summer 2011 runway show featured an array of crazy carnival-inspired fashions that I'm sure held the audience's attention all night.
Based on the wild outfits worn in the Walerio Araujo fashion show, the models could easily pass for Cirque de Soleil performers. There were hats in the shape of ice cream cones and swimwear with ruffled shoulders. See images from the collection above.
Implications - GAUDY HAS A NEGATIVE CONNOTATION
Consumers want to make a gaudy fashion statement when they head out for some fun in the sun. This stems from a desire to flaunt the capital flow now that the credit crunch is over. Companies should consider other ostentatious displays of success as potential hits with this demographic.
