Hand-Carved Stone Walls

Voltor 16's Walls are Constructed Using Traditional Regional Techniques

In designing 'Voltor 16', one of Signature Group's three houses in the south of Mallorca, the firm took a local tradition it had gleaned from its previous projects and applied it at a broad scale. The home may not look as though it's the subject of studies in traditional techniques thanks to its impressive contemporary form factor, but the walls that make up the ground floor are actually composed of hand-carved stone using local craftsmanship.

Since Voltor 16 is on the cliffs of Puigdarra, the home is explicitly oriented to make the most of the splendid views there. It has massive windows that extend across the majority of the cliff-facing side of the home, giving those inside unimpeded vistas of the turquoise Mediterranean sea beyond.
