The Volswagen Atlas Tanoak was Shown at the 2018 New York Auto Show

In a surprising move Volkswagen has decided to make a push into the pickup truck market with the showcase of its Volswagen Atlas Tanoak concept. The unique pickup truck is a first for the German automaker and was showcased at the 2018 New York Auto Show. The vehicle is set to be the big kid on the block, with a 1,630 millimetres by 1,450 wide bed, that the automaker has assured can easily allow “for easy transport of cargo, such as bikes or surfboards, with the tailgate in place." The size of the bed makes is larger than the staple Chevrolet Colorado and can even easily transport ATVs and dirt bikes with the tailgate down.
Underneath the hood the Volswagen Atlas Tanoak features VW’s 3.6-litre V6. This gives the vehicle 276 horsepower and 266 lb.-ft. of torque, all of which is directed to a 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. The interior of the Tanoak is incredibly spacious, easily seating five and featuring sporty contoured seats. The touchscreen infotainment system is located in the front of the vehicle and comes alongside Volkswagen’s Digital Cockpit.
