Japanese minimalism meets a hint of 60s styling in this Vogue Italia January 2014 editorial. It’s not just the fashion that has Asian influence, it also stars Japanese model Kiko Mizuhara. Photographer Ellen von Unwerth photographs this pictorial, set against an urban city background. We see Mizuhara strutting around town, surrounded by Japanese advertisements and sometimes lounging in a bedroom.

The makeup in this Vogue Italia January 2014 shoot includes lots of smoky eye and cat-like eyeliner. The hair is short and in the style of the 60s. Most of the clothing is very minimalist, being mostly black and white. The feel of the photos is very much ‘cool girls about town.’ One of the best photos shows Mizuhara standing under an archway of sorts, with white pieces of paper with black writing stuck to everything surrounding her.
