Twitch is now offering virtual gift cards to consumers, which be sent to others and redeemed on the platform. the virtual gift cards are currently available in the United States with either $25, $50, $100, or $200. Users can send gift cards through email or text, and the sender can even use different messages on the card. The messages can be for different things, like ‘Happy Graduation,’ or ‘Thank You.’
The virtual gift cards will not expire and provide a fun way to share with friends on the platform. Users may feel more compelled to engage with the platform if they can dive gifts to be directly redeemed on Twitch. Additionally, the user receiving the card will not have to have an active payment method on the platform.
Twitch indicates that it will look to release the gift cards globally in the near future.
