Domino's is at the forefront of innovative pizza delivery systems and it is now exploring a partnership with Nuro that will see unmanned pizza deliveries introduced to customers in Houston. Later this year, people in Houston who order place their Domino's order online may get to experience an autonomous pizza delivery via Nuro's R2 self-driving vehicle. Once their order has arrived, customers can access the storage compartment with a unique PIN code.
Since March of this year, Nuro has been running its own autonomous delivery operation in the Houston metro area and this partnership with Domino's only continues to show the potential for self-driving vehicles. According to Kevin Vasconi, Domino's executive VP and chief information officer, "Nuro's vehicles are specially designed to optimize the food delivery experience, which makes them a valuable partner in our autonomous vehicle journey."
