After operating its vehicular rideshare service in Istanbul for a year, Uber is now continuing to conquer land and sea with the introduction of a new service—UberBOAT.
The private ferry service will be run in cooperation with the sea transport company Navette, transporting anywhere from six to eight passengers at a time on a boat through the Bosphorus strait. In order to call for a vessel, Uber users will be able to order a boat in the same way that they put out a call for a car on the app.
Although officials in many major cities are up in arms about the cab-hailing service, it's hard to compete with the convenience and cost offered to consumers. Now that UberBOAT will be operating on water and people will be able to bypass road traffic, the service is becoming even more irresistible.
