Facebook has recently expanded its messaging service to accommodate on-the-go local transportation by now allowing users to order an Uber car via the messaging platform. This further encourages consumers to communicate and make plans through and then order a means of transportation all in one convenient space.
The partnership between Uber and Facebook is a clever one, allowing consumers to conveniently use one app to interact with friends as well as set up travel plans. The social media platform now has an added 'Transportation' button in its messaging menu that when clicked, allows users to order an Uber ride directly in the same window. From the same messaging window users can customize their ride, receive alerts and track the driver's progress. Consumers can also pay for the ride directly from Facebook messaging.
