Toronto Weatherman Informs Wired Citizens With Twitter Updates
Bianca — April 21, 2009 — Pop Culture
Toronto weatherman Nick Czernkovich is keeping the city updated with Twitter weather forecasts, a handy feed for local urbanites to follow.
The young CBC meteorologist has a huge older fan base who follow his daily weather updates on TV, but he says the younger demographics don’t tune in as much because they get their weather updates online.
Could Twitter save the weatherman?
@nickczernkovich doesn’t have a dry feed either; he infuses his posts with his charismatic charm, and between weather updates, throws in a fun comment or two to help his readers feel more connected.
With updates like, “SERIOUSLY AWESOME WEEKEND ALERT - Sat/Sun 24-25 C humidex 28 .. very slght chnc aft shwr, but only a small risk .. still finalizing fcst,” he connects with younger demographics who want their info fast and fun.
