The Tree Rings by Judson Beaumont Belongs in a Funky Fairy World

The Tree Rings look utterly magical. The natural rings of the tree stumps have been made rather unnatural through the use of light and color. The result is a look out of this world, or perhaps part of a funky fairy world. Although the Tree Rings look authentically tampered with, the unique lighting effect is actually achieved through the use of mirrored Plexiglas that has been embedded with cool fluorescent lights. The Plexiglas is placed on top of beetle pine shells.

Designed by Judson Beaumont of Straight Line Designs, a furniture design firm out of Vancouver, the Tree Rings were created for Summer Lights show at Duthie Gallery on Salt Spring Island. They can be used as seats and tables as well.
