World Animal Protection Canada Monitors Wildlife Incidents

World Animal Protection Canada has launched an interactive transparency tracking tool to monitor captive wildlife incidents across Canada. The launch intends to fill a gap left by governments' inadequate tracking and regulation of captive wildlife ownership.

The interactive transparency tracking tool aims to shed light on the systemic issues surrounding captive wildlife problems in the country, documenting instances such as escapes, attacks, and zoonotic disease outbreaks. By encouraging Canadians to contribute tips and information about captive wildlife issues in their communities, the tool becomes the most comprehensive database of its kind.

In support of Bill S-15, World Animal Protection calls for expanded legislation to ban the commercial trade, keeping, and breeding of elephants and great apes for entertainment purposes.
