Strung Shoe Installations

Sakir Gökçebag Uses Mundane Objections in His Creation 'Trans-

Using mundane items in a rather unexpected fashion, Sakir Gökçebag creates shockwaves with his ornate installation Trans-Layers that transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary.

The art series puts a focus on shoes, in particular, which are used in various ways ranging from wall art installations to extensive footwear fields that are conjoin shoes together using a series of intensively long laces.

Trans-Layers evolves the level of artistic perception when it comes to the everyday because it makes something out of what is perceived as nothing and pushes against what can be considered art. Are shoes strung together or rolls of toilet paper that are hung just so avant garde enough to be art? I, for one, believe the answer is yes and that there is going to be a consistent rise in making everyday products transform into elaborate works of art.
